Our Specialties

A collection built across centuries

A collection built across
centuries

Our collection spans traditional, transitional, and modern design, alongside collectible antique rugs from the mid-to-late 1800s. We also partner with weavers across Asia to produce custom, hand-made pieces built to your exact dimensions — each one an artisanal piece in its own right.

Serapi Couture

Can't Be Found Anywhere Else.

Serapi Couture isn't a separate collection — it's a mark of distinction. Across every style we carry, a small number of pieces are singled out as Couture: rugs so rare that once they're gone, there won't be another like them. Simply put — some pieces can't be found anywhere else.

A Family Business

Our Story

Built by family, rug by rug.

“It started with summers
in my uncles' shops.”

As a teenager, Babak spent summers and holidays in his uncles' rug stores, learning to read a carpet's craftsmanship, origin, and story thread by thread. After high school, he moved to Florida to work alongside them through college, spending sixteen years in the industry before striking out on his own.

As a teenager, Babak spent summer and Christmas breaks in his uncles' rug stores, learning to read a carpet's craftsmanship, origin, and story thread by thread. After high school he moved to Florida to work alongside them through college, and spent sixteen years in the industry there.

In 2010, Babak and his wife Mahdis opened Serapi together in Los Gatos — and it's remained a family business ever since. The idea was simple: bring the finest handmade carpets into a real gallery setting, where ancient weaving traditions and modern design could sit side by side. We still travel the world ourselves to hand-pick every rug that comes through our doors, and we're proud supporters of GoodWeave, working to end child labor in the carpet industry.

Discriminating by design.

One of the best rug-buying experiences I've had. I walked in with a difficult, hard-to-match fabric swatch and walked out with the perfect rug.

— Stacey C., Yelp

This is a first class artisan rug store that I can trust & feel they understand the art of woven beauty and how that can fit into your personal home.

— Kathleen W., Yelp

I highly recommend this business. They are so knowledgable, professional which is needed with fine carpets. Thank you Serapi Rug Gallery for the exceptional service.

— Cheri L., Yelp

This may sound very hippie, but my interactions with Babak were not just respectful, but they were sacred.

— Paula C., Yelp

Built for how designers actually work.

We've worked alongside interior designers and decorators for years, and we know every client brief is different. Trade partners get preferred pricing, early access to new pieces, and the ability to pull swatches and samples on approval for client presentations.
